HUIS CLOS was an arts initiative founded in London in 2014. HUIS CLOS offered emerging artists the chance to collaborate, create, exhibit and perform for free in a supportive environment where creative ideas and skills were shared.
HUIS CLOS consisted of a series of Research & Development sessions named ‘HIVES’. A total of 8 HIVES took place across April and May 2015, hosted by hARTslane Studios, New Cross. At the last HIVE, HUIS CLOS culminated in a full day event showcasing four collaborative pieces between participating artists.
• Connect emerging artists from different creative backgrounds
• Assist the creative process by relieving the financial and organisational pressure that tends to accompany it
• Showcase pieces developed by collaborating creatives
• Promote interdisciplinary collaboration as an effective method of establishing greater communication between different art forms
“Huis Clos” in French designates either a work of fiction in which the action is set in an enclosed space or the enclosed space itself, and as such we aimed to immerse ourselves in one place at a time -before opening its doors.
HUIS CLOS was founded in 2014 by Beatrix Joyce, Elinor Lewis and Déborah Gaugerenques.
